 and preserve the painted murals of the Lower Pecos Canyonlands. A global l
 eader in rock art research\, Shumla remains dedicated to the preservation 
 and documentation of these fragile pieces of art\, unraveling their sophis
 ticated meanings\, and connecting people to this shared legacy through edu
 cation and awareness.  Their Scholars Program builds partnerships between 
 senior Comstock-ISD students and Shumla researchers\, allowing students to
  nurture their passion for archeology and gain valuable hands on experienc
 e. A $5\,000 THF grant from the Jeanne R. Blocker Memorial Fund updated eq
 uipment used in the Scholars Program\, enabling demonstrations in conducti
 ng digital microscopy of intersecting paint layers and samples obtained fr
 om rock art while the class can view techniques and results in real time.
