 on site to see the results of the group’s restoration of the exterior of t
 he Point Bolivar lighthouse\, returning it to its historic condition and c
 olor. THF supported the work with a 2024 grant. The results are stunning! 
 The lighthouse was built in 1872 and famously harbored 125 refugees during
  the deadly Galveston Hurricane of 1900. It survived numerous subsequent s
 torms and stands today as a much-loved symbol of courage and resilience. 
 \n\nThe cupola and light are scheduled for restoration as well\, and a sta
 r holds their place for now.
