A Year of Preservation: How THF Advanced Texas History in 2025

In 2025, the Texas Historical Foundation invested $236,453 in communities working to protect the places and stories that define our state. From historic buildings finding new life to archeological research deepening our understanding of Texas’ past, 31 projects across the state received needed support to move from intention to action.

In our flagship Quarterly Micro Grants program, the average grant was $7,520 - often leveraged as seed money for smaller groups that might otherwise struggle to catch the ear of funders. It meant a roof repaired before further damage set in, research completed, exhibits opened, and local stewards empowered to carry history forward. These awards often arrive at critical moments, helping projects cross the line from possibility to progress.

With this year’s giving, THF’s total investment in Texas preservation now exceeds $2.3 million since 2005. That legacy is written not just in dollars, but in preserved landmarks, shared stories, and strengthened communities. These history-based initiatives show that when advocacy is combined with ongoing support, it can shape how history is protected and shared.

As we look ahead, 2025 stands as a reminder that preservation is cumulative. Every grant builds on the last, and together they ensure that Texas history remains visible, meaningful, and alive for generations to come.
