Texas Historical Foundation Welcomes Three New Directors

At its recent meeting in San Angelo, the Texas Historical Foundation (THF) approved three new directors whose collective experience in business, law, and preservation will help advance the Foundation’s mission to preserve Texas history: Harold Prasatik of Fair Oaks Ranch, Cynthia Toles of Houston, and Jon Venverloh of Highland Park.

Harold Prasatik brings decades of expertise in finance, real estate, and community development. A certified public accountant and licensed real estate broker, Prasatik has served in senior leadership roles in banking and real estate investment across Texas and the Southwest. His civic engagement—from revitalization work in Tucson to current service on Fair Oaks Ranch’s advisory committees—reflects a lifelong commitment to strengthening communities through thoughtful stewardship, a perspective that aligns closely with THF’s mission.

Cynthia Toles was born in Happy, Texas (Texas Panhandle), and is a longtime Houstonian. She graduated from UT Austin (BA, MA) and UH Law Center (JD). She served as General Counsel of the two largest Texas-domiciled life insurance companies, based in Houston and San Antonio, respectively. Cindy is active in historic preservation statewide and in arts advocacy, including founding patron groups at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, and writing on architecture and design.

Jon Venverloh, a Dallas-area entrepreneur and former Google executive, combines a background in technology and real estate development with a personal dedication to restoration and heritage. As founder of Venus Development Group, Venverloh has led restoration projects on historic homes and serves on nonprofit boards supporting education and community initiatives. His leadership experience and enthusiasm for Texas’s architectural legacy will help guide THF as it continues to protect the state’s historic structures and stories.

We welcome our newest board members and know that their diverse skills and shared passion for Texas history will strengthen the Foundation’s capacity to preserve the places and stories that define Texas.
