Join us next week for the second annual Duda Forum focusing on historic preservation and sympathetic new construction in historic settings. San Antonio, one of the most historic cities in the United States, can serve as a model for cities everywhere seeking to balance historic preservation and necessary growth.
Featured presenters include Sara Bronin, Chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and David Trayte from the National Park Service, who will speak about preservation and design review from the Federal level. They will be joined by local officials and advocates as well as the sponsors and designers of projects in the San Antonio area that illustrate the variety of ways that new development may partner with architectural heritage to create more meaningful and sustainable places. The discussion will consider different strategies for adding new architecture to old while maintaining the historic character of a place.
The Forum will begin with an evening reception on Friday, November 15th at the office of Ford, Powell, & Carson from 5:30 to 7:00 pm followed by the sessions on Saturday, November 16th at the Cultural Commons Gallery at Plaza de Armas from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Registration is $20 and includes a box lunch on Saturday. Register by November 12.
