THF Grant Presentation: Pines & Prairies Land Trust, Lexington
A presentation for July 2022 THF grant recipient Pines and Prairies Land Trust will take place on Friday, September 2 at 11 a.m. at the Yegua Knobbs Preserve in Lexington. Pines and Prairies Land Trust was awarded a $2,500 grant from the Jeanne R. Blocker Memorial Fund to pursue an expanded professional survey of the Preserve.
The survey hopes to identify undisturbed pottery sites and related structures originating from the underground commercial kilns that operated in the area in the 1850s. The benefits of identifying these sites is twofold; expanding conservation efforts at the Preserve while shedding light on the storied era in Texas history when outlaw gangs had a stronghold in the region.
