THF Grant Presentation: Cavalla Historical Foundation
Grant presentation to recognize Cavalla Historical Foundation’s recent THF grant to restore the USS Cavalla, a Gato-class submarine first launched in the 1940s, now a beloved feature of the Galveston coast.
The Cavalla Historical Foundation was established in 1999 with the mission of preserving two WWII-era naval ships, the USS Stewart and Cavalla, which were previously slated to be scrapped. After securing ownership, CHF set about opening the ships to the public as part of the Galveston Naval Museum and creating the Seawolf Park campus, where the Museum is situated.
