Juneteenth: History on Parade
Just two blocks from Austin's Annual Juneteenth Parade, the French Legation is screening historic footage of Juneteenth celebrations from Austin's past. Videos include footage from 1976 and the 1990s and showcase how East Austin has celebrated past and present. Cool off in our visitor center for a while and journey into the past before celebrating today.
Special thanks to the Austin History Center for preserving and sharing this footage.
This screening will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Visitor Center June 15, and June 18 – 22 during regular business hours. For more information about neighborhood celebrations please visit Juneteenth Central Texas for information on 2024’s parade.
