THF director Bernie Sargent was appointed as the Historic Preservation Officer of Montgomery County, a newly approved certified local government (CLG). Montgomery is the 16th county in Texas with CLG designation, which helps communities better protect their historic resources by identifying local priorities while also providing access to financial and technical services for the identification, designation, and protection of historic buildings and sites. We congratulate Bernie on his new role and look forward to the continued progress of Montgomery County’s preservation program.
