THF Grant Presentation: Old Settlers And Veterans Assn. of Falls County, Lott
THF Director Laura Wahlquist Stockdale will host a grant presentation for Old Settlers & Veterans Association of Falls County, 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 7 in Lott. Founded in 1908, OSVA are known for their mission to preserve the history of the region's early settlers. The organization received $5,000 in 2020 for restoration of the 1840's era Morrell log cabin, former home to Allen Morrell. Morrell was a veteran of the 1842 Dawson massacre and son of Z. N. Morrell, an early Texas settler on the Brazos known for his account of missionary life in the Brazos Valley through the Civil War and Reconstruction, "Flowers and Fruits in the Wilderness".
