THF Grant Presentation, Los Amigos de la Loma, Del Rio
THF board members Mary Lee Taylor and R.J. Collins will present the Fall 2022 Texas Historical Foundation grant to Los Amigos de la Loma. Originally formed in 1978, Los Amigos de la Loma have been instrumental in reopening and maintaining Del Rio’s historic Cementerio Loma de la Cruz for public use. The cemetery is one of Val Verde county’s oldest, and the final resting place for over 2,000 residents buried between 1884 and 1993. Los Amigos won THF funding for the lifting and repair of monuments and markers; one facet of the groups efforts to beautify the cemetery and restore the extensive period craftwork demonstrated throughout.
The presentation will take place 11 a.m. on February 8 at Texas Community Bank, 2411 Veterans Blvd. in Del Rio.
