THF Grant Presentation: Palacios Area Historical Association
THF members will gather at Palacios’ City by the Sea Museum on Friday, June 14 to present a recent grant to the Palacios Area Historical Association (PAHA). The grant supports the installation of interactive oral history kiosks throughout the Museum. Since its founding in 1982, PAHA has dedicated itself to preserving and sharing local history, envisioning the City by the Sea Museum as an important repository for regional history and arts.
The project will employ interactive digital kiosks to capture museum-goers recollections of Palacios history on subjects from the City by the Sea’s expansive collections, both for posterity and incorporation into future exhibits. The first wave of implementation will collect stories on subjects including the famed La Belle Excavation, Camp Hulen in WWII, and local Vietnamese history.
