THF Grant Presentation: Bolivar Point Lighthouse Foundation (Point Bolivar)

THF Directors visited the Bolivar Point Lighthouse Foundation on site to see the results of the group’s restoration of the exterior of the Point Bolivar lighthouse, returning it to its historic condition and color. THF supported the work with a 2024 grant. The results are stunning! The lighthouse was built in 1872 and famously harbored 125 refugees during the deadly Galveston Hurricane of 1900. It survived numerous subsequent storms and stands today as a much-loved symbol of courage and resilience.
The cupola and light are scheduled for restoration as well, and a star holds their place for now.
