FLOWER HILL FOUNDATION

The 1877 Smoot House, part of Austin's Urban Farmstead Museum.

THF Scholar Director Frank de la Teja has organized a presentation of THF's grant to Flower Hill Foundation for their work at Austin's Urban Homestead Museum. The project centers around ongoing rehabilitation work at the 1877 Smoot family mansion, part of the group's ambitious plans to restore the space ahead of reopening to the public.

The house is one of several historic structures on the property, and was the primary dwelling of the prominent and civically-minded Smoot family as they occupied the homestead continuously for generations. In the years since, it has operated as a historic house museum intertwining the history of the family with that of the city.

The presentation will take place 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, on site at the Urban Homestead Museum, 1316 W. 6th Street, Austin 78703. Contact grants@texashistoricalfoundation.org to attend.
